Flud Earns 12th Win of Season to Cap 5th Annual Oil Capital Clash

Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (May 11, 2021) – Frank Flud highlighted the 5th annual Oil Capital Clash with a Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division feature victory last weekend at Port City Raceway.

Flud competed in the Stock Non-Wing and Winged ‘A’ Class division during three straight nights at the dirt oval. He finished with one win, three top fives and four top 10s in six feature starts.

“As good as it looked it was pretty rough,” he said. “I felt like I never had a good run in non-wing because every time I looked up something was happening.”

Flud’s best outing in the division was on Friday when he placed seventh.

He was more efficient in the Winged ‘A’ Class division, in which he placed fourth on Thursday, second on Friday and won on Saturday during the 4th annual Terry Walker Memorial. It marked his 12th victory – the fourth during NOW600 Series competition and the seventh at Port City Raceway – of the season.

“The first night I was limping it because I didn’t get it fixed from the non-wing crash,” he said. “The second night I had taken the lead in the rubber, but a caution came out so I had to give it back up. The leader never missed the bottom after that. On Saturday everything worked out like I needed it to and I was able to get the breaks I needed to get the win.”

Next up for Flud is the inaugural $10,000-to-win All in Transportation Wingless A Class Clash this Thursday through Saturday at U.S. 24 Speedway in Logansport, Ind.

“I’m pretty excited,” he said. “I really like U.S. 24. I’ve taken to that track ever since I first ran there. I feel good about it because it’s one of my top-five tracks to run at. I know there’s going to be a lot of stout competition because it’s a stock non-wing event. There will be a ton of cars show up, which means we’ll have to be on our ‘A’ game.”

Flud bested nearly 100 drivers to win the $8,000-to-win Big Dance at the track last year.
