NOW600 National Micros
Battarbee, Slough, Swindoll, and Beard Best Leroy Strother Memorial Opener at Gulf Coast!
ALVIN, Texas (May 15, 2026) - Karter Battarbee, Audrie Slough, David Beard, Sr., and Jett Swindoll bested their respective fields on Friday night at Gulf Coast Speedway to open up the Leroy Strother Memorial weekend.
64 entries were on hand featuring 21-Non-Wing Micros, 12-Restricted Micros, 18-Turf Tire Micros, and 13-Junior Sprints.
NOW600 Non-Wing Micros
In NOW600 Non-Wing Micro competition, polesitter Karter Battarbee was untouchable in the 25-lap feature, leading wire-to-wire aboard the No. 0F to secure the victory after also claiming Heat 1 honors earlier in the night. Greyson Henry charged to a runner-up finish after winning Heat 3, while Anthony Reaves backed up his Heat 4 victory with a podium run in third. Jacob Hammack advanced from eighth to fourth, and Caiden Mitchell rounded out the top five with an impressive drive from tenth. Dalten Maust gained six positions to finish sixth, while Chris Miller stormed from 18th to seventh and Jacob Lucas charged from 20th to eighth for two of the biggest movers of the night. Anthony Rea and Brannon Lucas each picked up heat race victories before finishing 17th and 10th respectively in the feature event.
NOW600 Restricted Micros
Audrie Slough capped off a perfect evening in NOW600 Restricted Micros, winning both Heat 1 and the 20-lap A-Feature from the pole position. Holley Spake stayed close throughout the feature after a second-place run in Heat 2 to finish runner-up, while Oran Whatley completed the podium after starting fifth. Spencer Gatlin turned in one of the best drives of the race, advancing from ninth to fourth at the checkered flag, with Corbin Weekly rounding out the top five. Harley Knox crossed the line sixth, while Steven Patrick and Carolynn Sanders each earned top-10 finishes after hard-fought feature runs. Ben Knox Jr won Heat 2 but slipped back to finish 10th in the main event after starting from the second row.
NOW600 Junior Sprints
The NOW600 Junior Sprint feature saw Jett Swindoll charge from fourth to victory in the 15-lap main event after finishing second in his heat race earlier in the program. Ayden Alvarez won Heat 1 and led the field early before settling for second, while Kase Martin followed up his Heat 2 victory with a third-place finish. Greyson Brown advanced from sixth to fourth, and Brody Kritzler completed the top five after moving forward from his third-row starting spot. Wesson Whitaker finished sixth after a runner-up finish in Heat 2, while Keegan Holley made one of the biggest charges of the race, driving from 13th to seventh. Brantley Sinibaldi, Bradley Pounds, and David Beard completed the top 10 in a competitive 13-car field.
NOW600 Turf Tire Micros
David Beard SR put together a late-race charge to win the 25-lap NOW600 Turf Tire Micro feature after starting fourth and finishing second in Heat 2. Chad Fuselier ran consistently inside the top three all night and brought home the runner-up position, while Heat 1 winner Chris Russell completed the podium in third. Harley Landry finished fourth after a strong second-place heat race effort, and Dakota Perry followed his Heat 3 victory with a fifth-place finish in the feature. Brian Caldwell led early after starting on the pole before ending the night sixth, while Bubba Runnels gained four positions to finish seventh. Allen Hazell scored the Heat 2 victory but encountered trouble in the feature and faded to 16th at the finish.
