DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (August 9, 2018) - Labor Day Weekend is on the horizon and the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by MyRacePass is excited to announce details for an all new marquee event that will take place Sept. 1-2 at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla..

The event being billed as the East / West Showdown will feature a complete regular night of Lucas Oil NOW600 Series competition on Saturday night, while Sunday night will see a never before seen program used for Micro Sprints.

"We are always excited about doing new events with different type formats to NOW600." commented NOW600 Series Founder, Terry Mattox. "Cody (Brewer) has a great facility and he is the guy that is all for trying something new and different so what better place to try the East / West Showdown than at Red Dirt."

Sunday night each of the three Lucas Oil NOW600 classes will be divided into two sides, East and West. Drivers that live East of the track will be representing the East while drivers from the West will be the West team.

THE FORMAT

Drivers from each side will draw for a Hot Lap / Group Qualifying session. Drivers will get two laps of Hot Laps, yellow will come out, we will spread the field out and go back green for two laps of Group Qualifying. There will be East Hot Laps / Group Qualifying and West Hot Laps / Group Qualifying.

Following Group Qualifying, Heat Races for each side will be set based off Qualifying time.

Passing Points will then be utilized to determine who transfers into the Semi’s and A-Main. The Top 8 in East Heats and Top 8 in West Heats will lock into the A-Main. The rest will fall into each sides’ Semi which will be 12 Laps. If one Semi is ran the Top 4 from each sides’ Semi will go to the A-Main. If two Semi’s are ran the Top 2 from each will transfer.

The A-Main will be the only time each side will compete together. 24-Cars will start the A-Main. 12 from the East and 12 from the West.

A fan in the grandstands will pick a pill to determine which side starts on the inside and outside. Another fan will draw for the Invert.

Sunday nights A-Mains will all be 25-Laps.

Standard two-day Lucas Oil NOW600 National Series payout. There will not be any lock ins from Saturday to Sunday.

Saturday night will also feature Flat Track Motorcycles while Sunday night the USAC Wingless Sprints of Oklahoma will be joining the program.

More information on the Lucas Oil NOW600 East / West Showdown will be released in the coming weeks.
