Inside Line Promotions – GREENVILLE, Texas (March 3, 2020) – Brenham Crouch highlighted his season-opening weekend with a top-10 performance during Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division competition.

Crouch did double duty, running in the Winged ‘A’ Class division and making his Stock Non-Wing debut both nights at Superbowl Speedway.

The best outing came in the Winged ‘A’ Class on Friday evening. He placed third in a heat race, won a B main and rallied from 15th to ninth in the main event. Crouch battled for another top 10 in the division the ensuing night before pulling off the track early to prevent potentially tearing up his car on the rubbered-up track.

“We made some changes on Friday and were able to get it fast for the A Main,” he said. “We just needed more laps to keep gaining positions. We were a little tight on Saturday and with the track being rubber from the start I didn’t want to risk destroying a car so we pulled off midway through the race.”

Crouch was credited with a 16th-place finish.

He enjoyed speed during his Stock Non-Wing debut, powering from sixth to second place in a heat race before battling for a top five in the feature on Friday. Crouch was up to fourth and in contention for a podium late in the race when a near incident on the track dropped him to the middle of the pack with a 14th-place finish.

“It took a few laps to get comfortable in the non-wing car, but after that he took off like he’d been running it for a long time,” Team Manager Joey Starnes said. “He ran the line he needed to run and put the car where it needed to go and just had some bad luck. While there were some lessons learned we were pleased with the speed and direction for the first time in a non-wing.”

With Starnes focusing on tuning Crouch’s micro sprints, John Binz filled in his Winged ‘A’ Class ride. Binz earned finishes of fourth and 11th, respectively, after being out of the seat for most of the last three years.

Both Crouch and Starnes will be behind the wheel of a Winged ‘A’ Class micro sprint this Saturday and Sunday at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla., with the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division.
