McIntosh Masters NOW600 Tel-Star Mountain West Region at Jackpine Gypsies

Doug Napier - STURGIS, S.D. (June 23, 2019) - Doug McIntosh scored win number three on the 2019 season on Saturday with the NOW600 Tel-Star Technologies Mountain West Region at Jackpine Gypsies Short Track.

There are a couple of things you can count on so far for the NOW600 Mountain West Region and that is rain and Doug McIntosh.

Saturday night at the Jackpine Gypsy’s Short Track in Sturgis, SD. just as the cars took the track for time trials, the skies opened up, just like every race so far this season, and rain dampened the non-winged event, putting a 2 hour delay to the start of the race. The expert Gypsies track-prep team re-prepared the track for a great night of racing.

Tom Peterson took the early lead from the pole position start in the A-Main event and lead the first three laps until his right rear got a little too much grip going into turn three, sending him up and over into a barrel roll. Peterson climbed from his car unharmed, but his Factor-1 speedster was finished for the night, handing the lead to fellow Wyoming driver, Payton Parks.

Parks would lead the next four laps until South Dakota's, Doug McIntosh would slip under the leader coming out of turn four, drag racing down the front stretch, and stick to the low side for the pass.

McIntosh would lead until a lap 14 restart allowed Ryan Fulk to capture the number one spot and set the pace for the next three laps, when McIntosh would repeat the same move which worked earlier, and recapture the lead on lap 17, which would be the last lead change in the 20 lap event, giving McIntosh his 3rd victory of the season.

Nick Olson would come home in the second spot and Brad Olson completed the podium in third. Ryan Fulk and Nikko Bailes would finish out the top five.

Haugen, Parks, Wignall, Peterson and Jacobs brought up the top ten.

Heat winners were Peterson and Bailes.

The NOW600 Tel-Star Technologies Mountain West Region returns to action on Saturday, June 29 at Newcastle Speedway in Newcastle, Wyoming.
