Freeman Scores Another Top 10 with Driven Midwest NOW600 Series
Inside Line Promotions – WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 7, 2016) – Cody Freeman captured another top-10 finish last weekend during NOW600 National Micro Series presented by MyRacePass competition.
Freeman powered to a ninth-place result on Saturday at Red River Speedway in the Winged ‘A’ class division, which ranks him fifth in the championship standings following the first two weeks of the season.
“I’m getting more comfortable and more confident with each race,” he said. “It’s exciting to keep learning and growing each week.”
The action began last Friday when Freeman finished third in a Winged ‘A’ Class heat race to lock into the 10th starting position for the main event.
“There wasn’t much passing that night,” he said. “It was one lane so it was hard to get going.”
Freeman ended with a 13th-place result.
The improvement was evident the following night at the bullring where Freeman maneuvered from fourth to second place in a heat race. That ranked him sixth in overall points, which was only two positions out of making the feature redraw. It lined him up on the outside of the fifth row for the main event.
“The track was so dry and everyone was on the bottom,” he said after finishing ninth. “I don’t think there was much passing because if you got out of line you’d lose positions. We tucked in line and came home with a top 10, which gives us a lot of confidence.”
Freeman also competed in the Stock Non-Wing division both nights. On Friday he finished where he started – sixth – in a heat race to lock into the main event. Freeman then posted a 16th-place result on the locked-down track.
He charged from fourth to second in a Stock Non-Wing heat race on Saturday to end up only one position out of the feature redraw. Freeman battled for a top 10 throughout the main event before ending 13th.
“I figured out where to drive it and how hard to drive it into the corners better on Saturday,” he said. “We were just better all night long.”
Freeman is scheduled to compete this Friday and Saturday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., with the NOW600 National Micro Series presented by MyRacePass.
