Lucas Oil NOW600 Series Enjoys Record-Setting Season

Inside Line Promotions – DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (Nov. 4, 2019) – Preparation for the 2020 campaign is underway following another successful season for the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Tel-Star Technologies.

Champions were crowned, 21 different drivers reached Victory Lane – several capturing first-career wins – and records were broken during one of the busiest years the micro sprint series has produced.

Frank Flud was dominant en route to his second career championship in both the Stock Non-Wing and Winged ‘A’ Class divisions. Flud won 16 Stock Non-Wing main events – the most of any driver in a single season in the history of the series. He also recorded 21 Winged ‘A’ Class triumphs, which was the most any driver has earned in a season in any division.

Flud’s 183-point advantage in the Stock Non-Wing championship standings was the third-largest margin of victory in series history. He also became the first repeat winner in the division. His 144-point victory in the Winged ‘A’ Class standings was the most any driver had won that division by in the history of the series.

Ryan Timms, who finished only one point shy of a championship in 2018, led the Restricted ‘A’ class division with 15 feature triumphs – the most any driver has produced in that division in series history. It guided him to his first career series title. Timms also led all drivers across all three premier divisions with 23 top-five finishes.

Jeffrey Newell was the only other multiple-race winner in the Stock Non-Wing class besides Flud. Newell earned two triumphs while Chris Andrews, Chris Cochran, Anton Hernandez, Shawn Mahaffey, Layden Pearson, Chase Randall, Brady Ross, Kyle Thompson and Timms were also victorious.

Avery Goodman, Randall, Ross, Joey Starnes and Timothy Watson III joined Flud as feature winners during Winged ‘A’ Class competition.

Ryder Laplante ranked second in the Restricted ‘A’ Class division with a trio of victories. Mason Daugherty and Rees Moran both posted a pair of wins while Brenham Crouch, Grayson Gaddy, Tyler Kuykendall and Baron Silva recorded a triumph.

The season banquet is scheduled for Dec. 28 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Tulsa, Okla., beginning at 6 p.m.

Stay tuned to the Lucas Oil NOW600 Series social media accounts throughout the offseason for the latest news. The 2020 race schedule is planned to be released in December.
